EC's comments on Modi and Sonia are not satisfactory.

Had Mr. Sheshan been there things would have been different for Modi and Sonia, particularly for Modi. He would have certainly debarred Modi from contesting the present and future elections. But the present EC has failed to assert itself by pronouncing judgement far from satisfactory especially on Modi. Modi's comments were to be taken more seriously than Sonia's comments. The former was dwelling on the sub-judice subject, while the latter attacked the personal character of Modi. The Modi would be happy while the whole nation is lamenting at the toothless comments made by EC. The EC should have reprimanded Modi and taken severe action as his reported comments tantamount to justification of the extra-judicial fake encounter of an innocent victim of circumstances. Where is the rule of law, is the question still haunting the minds of the common man. When the likes of Modi can go scot free with such comments, in future many more leaders will come out with more harsher comments against anybody. This is the danger of such pronouncement from an impartial body. EC is an independent body not answerable to anybody in the Executive. It is independent of judiciary, legislature and executive. This body of three distinguished men has to follow certain established norms laid down for its functioning independently without showing any favour or buckling under any fear. T.N.Shehan has time and again demonstrated his fearless character while he was EC and carried out single handedly all reforms

Where were you when a UP Muslim MLA publicly told that he will give 1 crore to whomever kills the Danish cartoonist? What modi said does not even come 1% closer to calling for murder by this muslim MLA. And UPA and other muslim parties are mum about it. Even EC doesnt seem to care! what double standards.

What Seshan can do? You want all types of Indian laws when it comes to protect you and you do not want to follow the same laws if it troubles you.
