While Dr. Diamond's article may have stirred up some emotions, I think it's an objective assessment of the situation in India today. We are unable to overcome our caste and religious differences to cooperate on important issues such as fighting corruption, building a strong legal system, creating high quality public schools etc. When people feel they are being denied the right to education and health, they're going to turn around and say- what's the use of democracy and those of us who are in a position to do something will be so busy fighting over religion, we won't have an answer.
