LTTE

Sri Lanka would have been peaceful if LTTE had accepted Rajiv-Jayawardane agreement. But Prabakaran wants to rule Eelam as a dictator. He first killed his own brothers then he started attacking IPKF. Rajiv also did a blunder by not sending Madras regiment that knows Tamil. As IPKF consists of mostly north Indians, they treated Tamils as enemies and even indulged in rape, killing, etc. This infuriated Sri Lankan Tamils and breed more militants. Now the problem is more complex. Both sides have to come to a common understanding and make the region peaceful. Fighting will never bring peace rather make the lives of people more horrible.

And dividing the country will definely aggravate the problem. Both new countries will be like India and Pakistan. Everyone should know the strength of unity.

Ltter had accepted the agreement read before making half baked comments. In fact Pirabaharan made a public speech in Jaffna stating that this this agreement tis the starting point. th problem started when many anti Tamil Indian diplomats and Colombo and Delhi plotted with the Sinhalas and stabbed and betratyed the Tamils. Havnet you reada famous Indian generals book regarding how Dixit asked the Indian army to kill Pirabaharn when he was to attend the meeting. Th enaive and blundering Rajiv and these anti Tamils were th cause of all this problems and because of this India and the EElam Tamils lost a golden opportunity. The crafty and shrews J R Jeyawardene and the Sinhalese had the last laugh. Th ecountry was divided in to Tamil and Sinhlal Kingdoms throughout its history. It was th eBritish who united it in 1833. It was never a disaster when it was divided. Has only become a disasiter after the British united it as like the typical arrogant white colonialist. They divind people who were united and unite people who are better of divided ( eg Africa) they never take in to consideration of the traditional and hisotric ethnic hatred and rivalry between various people. Whem stranga colonial power or a dictator rules them . things are peaceful on the surface egformer Sovet Union Yugoslavia but when this crumbles thes com eon to the surface and unless all people are gratned equal rights it broods disaster. Look at Yugoslavia. The British when they left did not provide adequate

protction for th eminority Tamils. they did not bother or they wanted these states to fail. therfore the Gencidal Sinhalas have since indepedence have use thier majority to deny the Tamils thier just rights. Each succesive Sinhala governmet had become worse. TO the Sinhalas the handing over of the EElam Tamils to them on a platter by th BRitish was a dream come true. They ahd always hated them and eyed these ancient Tamil lands but were unabel to anything for the past 2500 years. If the current situaltion oif the Tamil is not a disaster then wht else is. So you want them to be killed ethnically cleansed denied the use of their language culture etc. iN a united Sri lanka . Who tore the 1987 Indo Sri lankan agreement not Pirabaharan but the Sri Lankan goverment in 2006. The Portuguese and the Duthch colonial powers realised that uniting the Sinhalas and Tamils iunder their control , would have been a disater, as they were awaree of the ancient enemity between these two people. The Bristish were not aware of it or did not care or did this deliverately to rule the country. If two people cannot get toghether and the country is in ruins it is a disaster and it is better to seperate. You talk of India and Pakistan. BUthave you ever thought that if there was still a large and restive minority Muslim population ( around 30%) in undivided India, on its western eastern northern and throughout India, not loyal to India , what the consequenses woul dhave been for modern India.
