If Ramanujam were right
by Jahnavi on Dec 17, 2007 09:30 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Which moral absolutism is it to lie about WMD in Iraq and occupy it, keep quite about Pakistan's terror factories and AQ Khan's nuclear retailing, maintain segregation of blacks till 1969 etc etc?
Not only Indian but every society practises contextual morality. It was moral to burn oneself in the face of marauding armies because they knew that they would otherwise be violated. It was contextually OK to divide society 'broadly' into varnas for the sake of functional interdependence. All these are not valid in 21st century, so get rid of them. To change with time is progress. To look back and criticise past practices is impotent regression. If Marxism is OK, why not Hindutva provided people buy the ideology?
