From ties to more grim news. The new Rs.400 crore airport, proposed to come up in the home town of the President of India , Pratibha Patil at Amravati has indeed sent a wave of complete frustration at the whole system which we call as the Government. The sheer callous way in which money is being spent, just to humour the President is indeed too hard to digest. Just when we think that Indian politics cannot go down any further, there comes one low.
There is simply no logic at all in having one more airport there when Nagpur airport is just 3 hours away. After ex-President Abdul Kalam, somehow the image of the President had undergone a complete sea change. More than the facelift to the image, there was hope that there are still leaders around who will help lead India.
The current President is low profile and somehow does not have the charisma of her predecessor. And now with this Rs.400 crore waste, surely her fan club (?) would have dwindled down to a trickle.
We are not against the progress of India but putting up an airport, which is not required and that too when the same state has the highest number of farmer suicides in India, defeats the entire purpose of being a leader.
