HOW ABOUT MAKING YOGA/MEDITATION COMPULSORY IN SCHOOLS?
by MGR Fan on Dec 11, 2007 10:28 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Anger control is very important espically in today's situation when people get stressed up easily.

Yoga and Meditation are good ways to suppress anger. Yoga and Meditation have nothing to do with hinduism as a religion, it is an ancient Indian practise that helps to bring mind control.

All Indians(incl Muslims and Christians) should consider making Yoga and Meditation part of School curriculum.

Good idea. Lets allow only ashrams and monastries in the country, no more "western" style schools. Maybe a few madrasas too, they teach meditation too.

How about one learns to read between the lines ? There is a difference between saying "making a part of" and "only the stuff thought". Grow up! No one is bullying your Modern science, even researchers in Stanford are studying the mind control practiced by The Budhist Monks. Why is always that people who choose offbeaten track want the support and agreement of others ? coz you don't trust what you are doing yourself ? Anshu, I see you have some good comments in these discussions, but wait, you might want to read what he said again. No harm there. This is not saffronizing the education, but just passifying the mind.

It just sounds weird in the context of current news items AND the inclusion of the "(incl Muslims and Christians)" part. I mean the world "All Indians" should not need any additional qualifications.
Excuse me if I thought the poster had a larger agenda than just anger management.

Now, Had you just made this point, I would have celebrated it. Celebrated that what you said was very much secular, some thing my country stands for. I am happy that we wish to improvise on what he had to say and look beyond all the invisible loadings it might / could otherwise have. Thanks much! Let me add, there always something about this in all religious texts, may be we just need it as philosophical studies course, than on the name of any holy book or religion.
