What is a pogrom?
by White Elephant on Dec 10, 2007 10:54 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

what is a pogrom Dr. Sajjad?

can you call a massive reaction by millions when you burn 59 of them a pogrom ?

it is not a pogrom. please ask a question, why is there no pogrom against jains, parsis, budhdhist or sikhs in gujarat (even during 1984 riots all over india, no sikh was hurt in gujarat) ?

gujaratis are not mad, as most muslims are made to think.

they are just tired of congress sponsored dadagiri of crazy elements of muslim society.

BJP is getting an advantage of this situation.

we do not like innocent muslims getting killed, do not like to encourage hindu fanatics (fanatics are same whether hindu or muslim), would like to live peacefully, but would also not like dadagiri from crazy elements of muslim society.

sane hindus when asked by hindu fanatics "how do you counter such dadagiri?" have no answer.

Lets take an example. Suppose one of your fellows (in school or college) is wrongly favoured- a situation many of us have been through- would you still bring yourself to burning that person? Why is it that such attacks happen against unknown/unseen enemies? I think it is because we have no stakes in their lives. And this is not just cowardice but blantantly unfair. Can you imagine your being in the minority in a foreign country and resorting to such attacks against the majority there even if you are marginalised?? Which brings us to one more point, that since we have power, we show it, if we don't we keep shut. Which again throws ethics into the winds and makes it a simple battle of who can get the better of whom? I am not for minorityism and hate these politicos who indulge in it. I also feel the problem with the muslim community in India is lack of moderate and sane leaders who would work for the genuine good of their people and the country as a whole (most of the leaders are stooges).Nevertheless, it still does not warrant killing unknown and innocent enemies, whatever be the provocation. If not what are we saying- we have no means of rightfully managing the affairs of our own nation and have to resport to extra-constitutional means often? If that is what it is, does not that make us culprits in devising such a system ad then beating it? Think about it bro...
