Traditional habits
by Madabhushi pavankumarchakravart on Dec 07, 2007 07:05 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Traditionally, since childhood, every Indian is taught (infact brain washed) that lower castes are suffering and muslims are minority and his should be stopped and one must be sympathetic to this community.

I'm not starting a debate on who is right or wrong, not even a supporter of BJP or against it or Congress. I just want to be apolitical. There's always a soft-corner to the muslim minority (even if someone from the community is at fault). This is aggravated and used by Congress to supress BJP (a useful tool for them). This, unfortunately is the feeling of many educated class, who do not see the actual intentions of the political leaders (against one another, both sides).

Whenever someone says a Hindu is wrong, everyone keeps mum (feeling happy from inside). When a muslim is found to be at fault, all the GOOD-FAITH in educated Hindus and muslims comes out and they start fighting against it without even thinking who is right and who is wrong. This, is done to pacify their false feelings for the community. They just want to be called good or get votes, not actully interested or intended to help the community. If they have soft-corner, it's good, let them help in improving the community, not just pass comments in these kind of instances.

This has now bcome a fear in India these days to actually speak against any minorities even when they are fault. They can never be at fault. Must not be pointed out when they make mistakes.

When will India truly grow-up?

You are right to some extent. But, it is your imagination that nobody condemns minority people even if they found fault. You are wrong. People in their right mind condemn all the wrong doing whether it is done by minority or majority. Mostly this kind of crimes done by individuas or organised anti social elements. But, when a crime is committed by a state like Gujarat riots, Nandigram or incase of Dinakaran office or by law enforcing agency(Rizwan case) it attracts more focus and everybody talks about it. It gives you wrong impression.

Your rhetorics notwithstanding, I would be have more convinced if you had corroborated your claims by facts.

Minority appeasement has been the congress strategy after Jawaharlal Nehru. However, the fact remains that in any incident of communal violence, the major sufferers are muslims. And, add to it, the unresponsive attitude of the government of the day, muslims have got not much to look upto from the state.
