just like all jews look to israel, the hindus look to india. guess where the hindus would want to be headed if they are persecuted in a foreign land? india would be on their list for sure. when idi amin screwed the hindus, many came to india (some went to uk or usa). many hindus abroad still crave to have their ashes submerged in the holy ganga maiya.
it is the solemn duty of goi to be concerned about the safety and rights of hindus. the day goi behaves differently - as this congress govt often does - is the day weakening of india will set in, and under congress that may already be happening.
although the author narrates his unfortunate experience from fellow hindus in his hour of need, i am sure there are plenty of blessings he can count from the hindu society. as vivekananda said love your fellow hindus even if he does you wrong. love ultimately straightens out all that is bad. have a big heart, be positive.

My question to you is simple. Does India has the international standing to pressurize the Malaysian govt. Ofcourse not. The malaysian minister would not have responded by saying "Lay off" to an American minister. On an international stage India is has no leverage over any country including Nepal. So when cant do anything about it its better to shut up.

India should have the conviction to stand up for justice. Cowardice and tolerating this injustice amounts to encouraging the discrimination. Remember that India is a growing power. At least read and get yourself updated on the progress of our country. We may have a billion problems so does every other country have. That does not reduce our obligation to stand-up against injustice to our Indian origin people.

Can it fulfill that responsibility given the poor standing of India in international forums like the UN? Will anybody support India if it moves a resolution for sanctions against Malaysia ?

Pls ask these malaysian/srilankan/ugandn/nigerian indian settlers where they would like to migrate if evicted from their country of adoption whether to India or any other commonwealth countries. you will be shocked to know that majority of them will prefer to go to Australia or Newzealand or UK and certainly not India. Do you know which country our ugandan indians / Srilankan tamils (for whom our Karunanidhi says his heart bleeds) opted for some years back- not india but Australia/UK. So much for their love and attachment to mother India.
Let the Karunanidhis and our indian government bleed and show their concern for our bpl villagers, marginalised tribals, dalits and hapless farmers who are driven to suicide in their thousands. What they are doing now is shedding crocodile tears with an eye on next election and vote bank politics.
I fully agree with the author when he says we majority Indians are big hypocrites. but only I would lie to add before that word- GUTLESS, SPINELESS, YELLOW SKINED AND CHICEN HEARTED.

They are perhaps afraid of folks like you Mr Krishnan. A country that cannot show courage outside cannot show character inside. India will be automatically attractive but for spineless western educated cowards who are content only reading 'The Hindu' and not doing anything worthwhile for the country
