Lies of the Manmohan Singh
by Nitin Kumar on Dec 05, 2007 03:33 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Leaving aside the tu-tu main-main, let us look at the some of the statements made by the PM in Parliament and via PMO and how the country is being misled.

1) PM in Lok Sabha on August 3, 2005 - separation of the reactors would be decided "voluntarily, solely on the basis of our judgment": FALSE

2) PMO press release July 29, 2005 - India could shift nuclear facilities from civil to military list like a nuclear weapon state: FALSE

3) PM in Lok Sabha July 29, 2005 - before accepting safeguards "all restrictions" would be lifted on India: FALSE

4) Promise given by PM in Parliament on August 17,2006
a) that the deal would permit full civil nuclear cooperation: FALSE

b) that the deal will ensure "irreversible" lifting of restrictions on India: FALSE

c) that the deal will not include annual presidential assessments of India%u2019s conformity with its non proliferation and other commitments: FALSE

d) that the deal will not entail scrutiny of its nuclear weapon programme: FALSE,

e) that the deal will not impose any foreign policy restraints: FALSE

f) that the deal will not require any safeguards over and above IAEA safeguards etc: FALSE

Can we trust this Manmohan Singh after all this? The answer is an emphatic "NO".

Leaving aside the tu-tu main-main, let us look at the some of the statements made by Nitish Kumar on this message board and how this forum is being misled by him. Here are his points, all of them FALSE, detailed point by point.

1) Separation of reactors has not been done yet; the entire process of identification of reactors will begin only after the 123 pact is operationalised (after IAEA safeguards, NSG approval, US Congress up-down vote etc). The entire process will take 2-8 years.

2) This is inbuilt into both the 123 pact and will be inbuilt into the IAEA safeguards pact, since IAEA, not US, will be informed if Indian wants to switch a facility from civil to military.

3) India will sign the IAEA pact only after all other international approvals are given (including NSG clearance and US Congress nod). Until then the text is only frozen with IAEA.

4)a) All we have not been granted full reprocessing technology by the US, Russia and France are willing to give it after NSG approval. So it will be full civil nuclear cooperation with many countries, not necessarily with the US.

4)b) Once this process is over, India can become a NSG member. After that it can block any proposal that will hurt interests since the NSG acts by consensus.

4)c) PM did not make any such statement. Annual certification is a routing legislative requirement for all bills in the US Congress; somewhat like in India, no minister can announce policy if Lok Sabha is in session.

Cotd..

4)d)Inspections can be only of our civil reactors under safeguards..that is being built into IAEA safeguards.

4)e) Foreign policy restraints will happen only if you are willing to bend. We were a much poorer country when we took on the US in the 1971 war; but if you have a weak-kneed govt like during the Kandahar hijacking, then anything can happen.

4)f) The deal itself does not require any additional safeguards. We are asking for additional safeguards on fuel supply and building of a strategic fuel reserve from IAEA.

So, can we trust the rubbish trash written by Nitish Kumar? NO. Only even more silly and credulous people like him (some are on this message board) will!!!!

Your arguments appart, your reference to Kandahar is not in the right spirit. No Govt could have done anything in the situation then. Any delay would have meant that there would have been more loss of lives of innocent Indians in a foreign country in which India did not even have diplomatic relations. In case of any more casualties, you probably would have been the first to condemn the then Govt. Or may be you would not have, as probably you did not have any relatives or dear ones in that ill fated plane.

We cannot trust Manmohan Singh. They are bending back to make this agreement. All other foriegn policy decision by this govt in 2-3 years is only to make way for this agreement. Opposition and Left should unite to scrap this issue. MMS and his party are lying and hiding things from the people.

Nitin Kumar - YOu yourself saying false/true is not the right thing, points to be clarified too. Its not the matter of Dr.Singh bad/congress bad. Its best of our country/development without energy nothing, you are passing this comments only because of energy once stoped you are become "Zero". Each and every planning their financial freedom/security for tomorrow like it is most important to think for energy security. If you are holding 200-1000 N-Bombs that will not feed "Dal Roti" it means not ignoring security, right now we have sufficient security to handle Pak. Once we become a Developed country whole world will "Salute India" that every one should mind it.
