Jihad means to strive and to struggle. There are differnt type of jihad one type is to control over one desire, to serve parents, to make perfect hajj, also to speak against tyran ruler, and one type is self defense for life and property

there are 100's more , who fought unprovoked wars on hindus/sikhs/buddhists/jains. their wars were of aggression and not self defense. they came with three motives. 1.wealth 2. women 3. islam
the first two are promised to them in the koran and hadiths if they spread the third.

So Mohammed changes his words according to the situation. That doesn't really seem like a messenger of god trying to sell god's message. It's more like mohammed is trying to sell his own message.

Instead of understanding What is Jihad, first understand What is Islam. What you have written is true but in different context. So without understanding there is no point in just refering to certain quotes. Even in Mahabhrat it quotes Krishna telling Arjuna to kill your brothers, do we do that. Its a quote which is true in that context and point of time. The reason one can say Quran is the final word of God is because of the fact that it was revealed on a person who didnt know how to read and write. Do you think its possible for someone to write it on his own being a illeterate, without it being Gods word. And there are various scientific facts in Quran which modern science is discovering today. Well its shere common sense but unfortunately common sense is not common
