Whoever makes Shoe should be called "Mochi".

CASTE IS NOT BIRTH BASED. IT WAS BASED ON PROFESSION WHERE ONE'S SON USED TO TAKE FATHER PROFESSION.

The larger point is: This is a proverb. Hindi is not my mother tongue, neither I asked anybody. But I am pretty sure.

IT MEANS SOCIAL UPWARD MOBILITY.

u r right. i am brahmin, if i sit & start repairing shoose, chappals people will definitly call me MOCHI, there is nothing wrong.

You are totally wrong Uddhav. Dont you polish your shoes and chappels on your own? Dont you do this to your children? Your family and friends and neighbors will definitely not address you as Mochi.
