Most of the readers of rediff are sitting in A/C room and browsing internet and don't know about real politics. Left is there in Indian politics and will remain there. It is true Left will most likely loose few seats in next election. But that has nothing to do when the nuclear deal or when the election is held. It's due to the fact that they have reached maximum possible seats they can get with their current strength. They don't do anything unfair for increasing their tally suddenly. I can gaurantee the avarage quality (not only qualification) of CPM leaders is far better than any other party in Indian politics. They are well educated and from better schools. Left is jindabad.

A serious rift within the party surfaced in 1962. One reason was the Sino-Indian War, where a faction of the Indian communists backed the position of the Indian government, while other sections of the party claimed that it was a conflict between a socialist and a capitalist state, and thus took a pro-Chinese position. There were three factions in the party - internationalists, centrists, and nationalists. Internationalists supported the Chinese stand where as the Nationalists backed India. Centrists took a neutral view. Prominent leaders including S.A. Danke, A. K. Gopalan, and E. M. S. Namboodiripad were in the nationalist faction. B. T. Ranadive, Sundarayya, P. C. Joshi, Basavapunniah, Jyoti Basu, and Harkishan Singh Surjeet are among those supported China. Ajoy Ghosh was the prominent person in the centrist faction. In general, most of Bangal communist leaders supported China and most others supported India [1]. Hundreds of CPI leaders, accused of being pro-Chinese were imprisoned. Some of the nationalists were also imprisoned, as they used to express their opinion only in party forums, and CPI's official stand was pro-China.HK Surjeet influenced by Russia to setup an underground organization CPI did proceed to recruit a secret organization within the Indian Army. China Russia insisted that the CPI must develop a standby apparatus capable of armed resistance, while intensifying penetration of Indian Military forces. Kiran who is a nationalist? chinese agents

1) Jagjivan Ram (could not get proper education) was a great visionary contributed a lot to Indian Defence, when he was Defence Minister/
2)Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary, one person was enough to take India forward.
3) BJP opened routes for India towards Western Arms Industry.
4) BJP also worked with Russia to get us Nuclear SUB ( Joining Indian fleet shortly)
These are some acts of vision.
BUT CPI / CPM Killed Indian Industries. Opposed Computerisation. Now opposing India Going Nuclear.
China / US 123 Deal was stalled for 13 years at US end as CHINA was creating trouble. CPI wants to Stall INDO / US Nuclear deal and want to delay the advancement in this area.
All said and done India is ahead of China in terms of Hold over Nuclear technology.
Thorium Technology will be unique to India only ( US / CHINA / RUSSIA / France etc) are no more in it. I wonder why CPI wants to Delay it
