It seems India is among the pioneers in Breeder reactor technology to utilize Thorium. Hope this deal doesnt harm our oun R&D in anyway.

India has more then 255 of worlds thorium.We should use it instead of begging to the US

George >> Please understand, Thorium by itself is not Fissile. It needs to be irradiated first, than it becomes useful. First step is to have Uranium and India is hopelessly short on that.

The Three Stage Reactor Technology is not yet a proved one so as to enable us to fully depend on to produce commercial energy. We only have a small Fast Breeder Reactor that was perhaps inaugurated by Rajeev Gandhi. Had we been having a commercial Reactor based on the Technology, we could have thought of not going for any outside help.

Not much of hope from Thermal and hydel energy to fuel the requirement of energy in the next decade and beyond.
