Both are at fault
by secret secret on Aug 21, 2007 05:39 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Both the Ambassador and the rediff editor are at fault.

The Ambassador should have been careful in what he was saying to a media person or an outsider about his personal views without clearly stating they were his personal views.

And the rediff editor should have clearly asked the Ambassador if he intended for provocative words such "headless chicken" to be quoted. This is a managing editor, and he can foresee the reaction. He certainly has the brains to know that such a statement can only be a personal remark, and not part of an official interview.

The editor has basically misused the trust placed in him by the Ambassador, a trust which builds over long periods and a trust that makes a person feel that the other person will know intuitively what is off-the-record and what is not, without having to explicitly state it each time, especially when the conversations are several and the relationship is close.

Aziz has miused trust for professional benefit. Both he and rediff.com need to apologize, and make up to the Ambassador for the damage they have caused him.

i do agree with u.

this is good example of irresponsible Journalism ..rediff should act upon such editors taking into conideration the sensitivity of the subject and consequences of the same. this is no bollywood Movie review that rediff editors write ... its a serious issue .... its the editors fault...either he is inexperience or he is done this knowingly for cheap publicity...rediff would loose credibility of being good news portal if such things continue in future...
