The parents are responsible not the Orkut. The kidnappers , if they are his Orkut buddies, abused Orkut as much as himself. The latter is for sure. 16 is too early for night outs with unknown fellows. So the parents are the one to be blamed more than Orkut. Keep a watch on your children, it is your responbsibility,

How much wsatch can u keep on your kids? Dont they have others things to do? They can watch a kid for 12 to 18 hrs of the day but what about the rest of the 6 hours? Tell me if you had a kid what time will you be able to spend with him? Dont you have a Job to do? Dont you have debts to pay? May be not you but what about others? They do have lot of other things? Only possible way is to keep him totaly away from the internet and other social medias. I am not accusing orkut or you but there are more dreadful sites then orkut present on the internet. Something has to be done. The road is not easy. Orkut being mass popular is surely to be held responsible. I have seen sites which are more responsible. They will never allow you to post your contact information unless you have a valid credit card to prove that you are not a minor and then you need to pay. These sites use heavy filter on emails and Chat. Orkut and other sites need to take such meassure to avoid such things. This is not the first time its happening with Orkut. And besides everything a parent can do about hi schild, vunerablities of orkuts are exploited by senseless criminals. I know orkut and myspace are brilliant site...But i truely believe that they are CURSED.

Mukund Rathi, I completely agree with you. It also becomes childrens responsibility to look after themselves and avoid girlfriends at an age of 16. Time is just not ripe for that. Why dont kids understand that. Perhaps, the modern technology has to be blamed for inciting such wild things into young minds. Parents should sit with their children and talk to them about misusing internet and the dangerous repercussions it can cause. Parents also need to keep a watch on the sites that their Kids browse frequently and warn them. If they continue to do so, then Internet access at home should be denied to them till they mature or block such sites.
You cannot blame ORKUT or the social media for all the bad things that happen. Criminals like these who trap children should be mercilessly hanged, this will instill fear in the minds of others.

If your from India sillicon city just login to Orkut ad Search for Bangalore the very first page you will found "S3X in Bangalore". now whom should blame Orkut yea Bangalore
