Price rise, minor issue. Blue line mayhem, no issue. Farmers suicide, no issue. Farmers feeling insecure over SEZs , minor issue. Tea garden workers starving , no issue. Poor power infrastructure and extensive load sheddings, no issue. Service tax even on rs. 50/- top up card used by the poor workers like rickshaw pullers, thela walas etc, no issue. Religious fundamentalists threatening to behead a woman in public , no issue.
For the last three yrs on most of the mundane issues of roti, kapda, makan or bijli, sadak, pani issues of aam admi, the left was satisfied with some token protests and some arm chair rhetorics hardly requiring any direct confrontation with the UPA . But the most important life and death issues for the left are the threat of American imperialism to the world and safeguarding interests of China and Iran. They are duty bound to fight for them even if it means pulling down the govt. midway thrusting mid-term election on the people. These issues are so dear to them that no sooner the n-deal was made public on the 3rd of this month our comrades were seen in over drive kicking and screaming in public view in all the TV channels 24x7 threatening to pull down the govt.
