On the Horns of a Dilema
by Khandu Patel on Aug 18, 2007 03:21 PM   Permalink

As the left should well know, co-ordination and the minimum program relate to domestic and internal affairs of the country.

The Prime Minister has assumed charge of foreign policy and Singh has made close alliance with the US a lynch pin of his policy. As the nuclear deal has fully demonstrated, it is not subject to review by Parliament by virtue of our quirky constitution which Nehru bequeathed us. Since the left are not willing to pull the rugs off under the Singh Government by a vote of non confidence, the best they can hope for is Sing's head on a platter. But since it is Sonia Gandhi who is the power behind the throne, nothing much changes unless the Government actually falls. Chastened they might appoint a new Congress leader.

I will settle for the communists as the laughing stock!
