The only advantage is we will get electricity generated through nuclear reactors setup with the help and support of America. But for that we have to surrender our all the existing Nuclear reactor for the inspection by international authorities and NSG (Nuclear material supplier group), and we also need to curtail our N-reactors to be used for strategic purpose (means for defens purpose=making N-weapons). We need to buy technology (at their cost) and spare parts of N-reactors from USA or its supporting countries (Chamchas like australia, canada, UK). Even after signing the deal we may start getting energy practically only after 10 years or so and at the same time our research on FBR (fast breeder reactor) for utilization of Thorium (which India possess 2nd largest quantity in world that is 32% of total) may suffer because large amount of fund will be diverted in buying equipments and Uranium raw material. And if by chance we do another Nuclear test, the deal will be scrapped and we need to pay back all the material, equippment and Technical Know how transferred under the deal.

mr joshi you are somewhat right but for your information we have to surrender only the civil nuclear plants not the military one the deal is only about civil nuclear supply but if america force their dadagiri on us in future on the base of N DEAL we should kick these deal. our military nuclear will work as it is. we must take the deal because cheap nuclear electricity is must for our country but we should be beware of USA also and ready to kick the deal when needed.

Hi,The potential advantage is that,if the contry does not indulge in nuclear testing, then the US will be providing India with huge funds(many millions of dollars) every year!Lets face it..india is a nuclear country, and when needed,we do have the right people and raw mateirals to get it loaded.So.its better we take the grants and keep quiet right now!hehe

the treaty is not that simple. us is not providing with extra fund. infact it other way round. india would be paying a fee sort of money to usa. moreover we are force to buy the weapons from them. and certain air crafts. the reason usa wants to sell all these millartary things is, their only source of income left is weaponaries. and they keep advancing their technology, so the second last technology is to be discarded as the newer came in. now the second last cost them something so they would rather sale it to third world than to mas destroy it. and we work hard every day and night to buy that second hand items. which can work excellent but also cant work

we need it because we need uranium for nuclear energy. the present source of energy esp...electrical energy. countries like USA, AUSTRALIA AND RUSSIA ARE THE COUNTRY RICH WITH MINERAL SOURCE OF URANIUM.

but alas Russia has been our strategic patner cum guide, why shouldnot we take them into confidence instead of being thrased and bullied by USA everytime for uranium.

what do you mean by "nuclear path"? creating weapons of mass destruction or getting electricity to all in India??
RE:RE:why ?
by tapan shah on Aug 17, 2007 09:39 AM Permalink
its not the nuclear path....the energy was discovered for the good purpose but used also for weapon. the treaty is providing the raw material but that raw material wont be used for weapon. this is the briefing i can do for you. unfortunately that stops us also from any nuclear testing for weapons. even if our neighbouring countries are testing it
