meaning ,even if you have to eat dry bread and cold water to survive is better than to live on few bones thrown by someone,so that you can maintain your dignity and self respect.
With such a wisdom existing in a centuries old culture,to go the other way and suffer at the hands of a country with unscrupulous,war mongering,cruel,inhumane ,deceptive policies would be just tragic and regrettable.
Don't become an another State of USA ,as it happened to Pakistan. Don't you see Benazir and Nawaz running to Washington to get State Department's blessing and approval before doing anything politically.
Even Secretary Burns made a statement that Musharraf is not their only choice,that they are keeping their options open,as if he is the king maker.
Joy,grief,health,wealth comes in cycles ,for individuals and nations. When India built Taj Mahal,US did not have even a potato crop. Before WW II,the USA was a third rate economy.The Indian Rupee and US dollar was at par.It does not take long for tide to turn,in these turbulent times.
After every difficulty,there is relief. Thats is the nature's law.
So,India! Don't lose heart. Your condition is bound to change for the better soon,God willing. You have come this far without anyone's help,don't give it up now. You are bound to make it on your own,without compromising your dignity, security and independence.

what dignity and self-respect are ya talkin about? japan had a lot of that but they got millions killed in the name of honor with hiroshima just because they didn't wanna surrender. then there is killing of your own child in the name of honor. when did it ever become honorable to kill your own blood? don't gimme this bullshit. open your eyes before you open your mouth.

Try to understand,its not worthwhile doing business with a party which is unscrupulous,selfish, unreliable and untrustworthy.
If New Delhi has to take orders from Washington in future policies, you don't think there is loss of dignity and stature for India.
Japan lost because of atom bomb and nothing else.A bomb which was built by the German ex-patriates in USA which was lucky because the Germans were just months behind US in detonating their own nuke.
