What the Left should do
by Chakravarthy Muralidhar on Aug 13, 2007 12:33 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I have no faith in the Left parties having any real concern for India. They have never respected this country nor have any sense of belonging. They are a blood sucking class who thrive on the proliferation and continued gullibility of the poor class. However, since Rediff believes in providing some sane counsel to this reactionary political group in the spirit of inclusion of all in this debate, here are some pertinent queries they should raise on the 123 Deal: 1. Why is India reconciled to being called a non-weapon state by the US despite India having the conventional as well as thermo-nuke weapons with requisite delivery systems? Why is the govt agreeing to limit all nuke development efforts despite the nation having acquired all the technology and expertise by own effort and resources? India being a democratic country with 4 times US's and 1/6th world's population, how can US dictate terms with regard to its strategic concerns? Having spent massively on nuke development entirely on our own, why is the govt now surrendering our leadership position in advanced nuke technology? Why is govt not reviewing our 3-phase nuke development and examine the possibility of accelerating FB programme instead of becoming dependent on foriegn supplies of natural uranium? Can't we put our resources into FB reactors and go to thorium cycle much earlier than originally envisaged? This way we can obviate the need for getting enmeshed in 123 Deal and keep our nuke endeavour totally free.
