Visas are given on the passport

In the similar case mentioned in the article, the parents say that they left the visa behind. Actually it means that they left the passport behind because Visas are stuck on the passport but our rediff journalists would not know it

Mr.Nagendra, I'm not in favour with the Indian parents of the American child, but would like to clarify you that they carried the passport but not the Indian visa simply because the Indian visa was with the old passport of the girl and what they were carrying is the new passport. I feel you are not aware of this fact. When the pages of a passport are finished(but stamping or visas), the authority issues either additional booklet or a new passport, as the case may be. In this case the old passport become invalid but if any valid visa exists in the old passport then the old passport should be carried alongwith the new passport. So, just donot blame rediff journalist for your ignorance.
