See the Americans have their compulsions... but they have really gone out of their way to accomodate India in this deal... with a "no hindrance clause" and all that. Technically, America can ask for the fuel back.. but they have to meet several triggers for that... also the US has "committed" to the lifetime operation of any reactor set up with American fuel. Try to give up antti-american paranoia and look at the world. I understand some people are fearing that we will get backstabbed by the US. There are 4 things one should consider 1) There is a perception that the US is "opportunistic". Hey guys... chill out... who is not opportunistic? India herself came up with the slogan "hindi chini bhai bhai" what abt that bonhomie now? When the USSR collapsed, which was the first nation to turn its back on them... India.. all nations are "opportunistic".
2) This is the FIRST real deal between India and the US and still it has taken place rather amicably.. the alliance is just 3 yrs old... give it a chance
3) everyone needs allies, both India and the US and anybody with any sense of geopolitics can see that India-US is the most natural tie up here. People make knee jerk statements like "the US will stop supply" as if the US will do so just for fun!!! What US interest will it serve if China becomes a superpower and India stays weak and helpless.. 4) The economy is already open and from all moral standpoints, it is advisable to open it further.

and by the way, if we do not give up the fear of being "backstabbed" in a distant unlikely and hypothetical future, we will get "FRONTSTABBED" by China, Pakistan and the Islamic barbarian nations
