Reservations in India are useless in present form. I fully support SC/ST reservation, but OBC reservation does not make sense at all. First,OBCs are mostly land-owners, secondly 21st century should lead us forward , not 2000 years backward. US affirmative action means if there are 2 same qualified candidates, the colored one will get the seat. Unlike India, where merit is sacrificed solely for votes. But any healthy debate on these issues is curtailed by these rowdy politicians. At a time when so many inter-caste marriages are taking place, what kind of legacy we leae our children. Will they be upper or lower caste ...?

How can people who were suppressed for hundreds of generations will be able to get benefits of reservation within 2 or 3 generations. You know still many posts reserved of SC/ST are not filled due to lack of candidates. The develop comes gradually not all of a sudden. In each generation number of developed people will grow. So it may take one or two generations to get the equality. By the way when a set of people tolerated for hundreds of generations why don't you guys tolerat reservation for one or two generations?
The posts are not filled because of lack of education and basic facilities. Instead of shouting over for seats in IITs, lets start sending these kids to school. The politicians will never do that. They're interested in "votes", not on real upliftment. If supressed people have to get the real benefit, why dont you propose quota on financial basis or lets say kids of all those SC/ST/OBC/MBC/BC government officials, beyond a particular rank are not eligible for quota. Right now the cream layer of the same SC/ST/OBC/MBC/BC are blocking the poorer ones of their own creed from enjoying the benefits of Quota
