PKL.aFTERNOON, 320PM.,MONDAY,5th August , 2007
We fight for small local supremacy be it jobs , cash ,lands and water a little too much. The Idea of Grassroot empowerment has led to decidedly loss of a national perspectives, at least in areas of vital harnessing of collective resources like River-Water , reservoirs , and power -generation or trapping excessive down-pours for water scarce and irrigation needing drying crops and thirsty villages. We are so inured to local politicking and posturing that through out the sub-continet
from Kerala-Karnatak, Tamilnadu or Andhra to Punjab-Haryana or UP and Rajasthana we never shrewdly learn to act cooperatively to make an optimum use of this Monsoon's Bounty in last half a-century of the new India. Things between Rajasthana , MP or Maharashtra ,and elsewhwere ,also are locked in familiar bickering on the sharing benefits,or/ and providing succour to Dam oustees after decades of on going River -Valley projects.National Water ,Power Grids are ideally tomtommed but hardly get past beyond pious intentions , thanks to the narrowminded
localiost intransigence of the small-time political mentality that dominates our grass -roots political class...We need Great Visionaries , like Visheshwariya, KLRao, MN Dustoor and now Ex-President Abdul Kalam to take us out of our squalid ruts.D.Goel
