In religion and politics, people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second hand, and without examination.

look at US.
how many senators in US/Japan win by playing
the dirty politics of religion and caste?
gimme one example?

Thats because of two reasons
1) In case of Japan and to a large extent USA look at the ethnic/religious homogenity. What religion s exist in Japan? Therefore no person can win by minoritism. However pandering to Black/Hispaniacs has started in US too.
2) The presidential structure of the Govt.
Other reasons
1) The minute one starts on minorities the backlash of majoritism is huge. Look how strongly Americans and their media (barring some lefty turds) is behind Prez Bush even when they know that Iraq war is not being handled well.
2) Faith in themselves.
