Muneer, You seem like a soft person, why don't get justice for the 300,000 kashmiri pandits from the kashmir muslims, who using the mosques public announcement said that "Women can stay without their men". I would be very happy, if you atleast condemn those acts.

How do you know he is a hard-core criminal? That is not for the police to decide, but the judiciary. That is how a democracy works, BTW. In this case, the police were acting as the judge, jury and executioner all in one. The police cannot be given that much power and hope they use it responsibly, because they won't. That's EXACTLY why the judiciary exists - so that the police do their job.
In any case, extortion is not an offence punishable by death. Also, the journalist has no proof that the dead man was an extortionist, as clearly evinced by his reluctance to name any. There's nothing in the report to suggest he was a murder as you claim.
The police have to have limits to their powers - else tomorrow, you piss off a high ranking police officer for some reason, he picks you up, brands you a serial rapist and kills you in an encounter. The police have no power to kill anyone (except in self defence) - that is the job of the judiciary.
If the judiciary takes years to take a decision, fix the judiciary, not legalize extra-judicial killings.

Abu salem is in jail, retard. Contesting an election does not mean he wins. Winning does not mean he doesnt get to go to jail if convicted. If convicted, he goes straight to jail. He was Dawood's right hand man by all accounts. What is your point?

Retards like you need to understand why the law is the way it is. It has its flaws, and people sometimes escape the net. The "flaws" are to ensure that people dont get blamed for crimes they didnt commit.
Recently in the US, 2 people were acquitted for rapes after serving 15 yrs in prison, after a DNA test proved them wrong. The state will compensate them. Mistakes happen, which is exactly why the police should not have powers to randomly kill people.

Maximus, I think you are retard, you have amnesia. Lalu was convicted in the fodder scam and still he was able to contest and win and now the case is closed. Why do you think, it will not happen the same case in Abu Salem. You are correct in saying about Police powers, do you think that Police are brainless? Only the top brains (from IPS) would have approved for these orders and do you think that they would have done without any foresight? Who is respecting the judiciary? SC declared that Governer's decision is unconstitutional, but the verdict came very late and eventually useless. So you want to wait for another 10yrs to complete the process, even having evidence that the subject a criminal. He will do all sorts of dramas from the jail. As the saying goes, "Crime cannot be avioded, unless the criminal wishes", so there are handful of actions that needs to be done and for rest there is court. You have to know the difference and I believe bunch of IPS officers have that knowledge.
