What happened to the original Nalanda University?

How did it cease to exist ?
Can anyone post some informative aricles on who destroyed the Nalanda & Takshashila University ?

Dont worry, they might have burnt the buildings ad valuable people and books. But the culture , the knowledge in the head they cud not. There is a force in that Univ which makes it prevail.No one can destroy it. Khilji or anyone of his ilk cannot destroy the supernatural.

Bakhtiyar Khilji was form Afgahanistan not Turkey. Just updating your history.
And Magadh was not 3000 yrs old

Bakhtiyar Lhilji was from Muslim Turkic Khalji tribe. So what does that make him ?

from 1700 BC to 550 CE
its how many years dear ?
