Below is my story, 100% true. If any one doubt, you can go to my institute and get these information using RTI.
In 94 my father salary was Rs 1500 per months and he had to support family of 5. I went to state government school, because education was almost free. I didn't know much about IIT JEE in school but came to know about it in XIth.
I didn't have enough money to even have normal tuition, forget about going to high class coaching. With my hard work and God wish, i was able to clear IIT JEE in 94. My father had very tough time supporting me during 4 years of my B.Tech. Fortunately I got merit-cum-means scholarship as my father income was way below cut-off income of Rs 40,000 per year.
One of my friends, OBC by cast, son of state electrical engineer got selected in state engineering college on the basis of reservation.
Now I ask here, why my father didn't qualify as backward class? This is my story, forget about my father story. because if i tell here my father background, many people will have tears in their eyes.

This is one of the example of people suffring with wrong government policy. Even with the current reservationpolicy like 30% for obc, 30% for girls, 10%, govt. emplyoee, freedom fighter etc.... nothing is left for OPEN category. i remember my time. i missed engineering seat just by 1 mark and i denied to pay 60000 rs to principal of colleage (bribe). even today i m suffering in my career due to this. some one has to sort out this problem. we want no reservation in education. let the brillient student tk the seat. if our dirty politicians still want to continue with reservation then i will request all open category professionals not to give any service to this ministers. let obc ppl fly thier plans, let obc ppl operate and write prescription for them etc.......

RK, Best wishes. There are many such persons from all castes who have come up by merit and whose parents have made unbelievable sacrifices for the studies of their children. My father's income must have been one-tenth of your father's; and and I also completed my education with a merit cum means scholarship. A caring government must identify and support students from all communities - generous financial support, accessible schools, colleges and coaching institutions for all. All deprived classes must be encouraged to gain self respect. Reservation is not the route.

Sampath, I can imagine your suffering. One thing great about Indian parent is that they do unbelievable amount of sacrifices for their children education. Current growth is result of that culture and thinking.

Pls put all your story and encourage this harmony in society,I belive people from cast comunity also would to have a change and they would like to call first rather then second,as the country's first PM to the chief ministers, which said: "I dislike any kind of reservation, more particularly in services. I react strongly against anything, which leads to inefficiency and second rate standards. I want my country to be a first class country in everything. The moment we encourage the second rate, we are lost."

This will be only possible if significant percentage of so called OBC cast come forward and reject this idea of reservation. I wish to live for that day. They will come forward only when government provides free education, food, accommodation with tons of good quality schools. Once we have that, they will see the result and will reject this reservation.

not only in OBC, rather include the econmically underpriviledged from any caste or religion in India. Lets try to set thigs right now. Reservation sud be on economic basis, irrespective of caste and religion.

Your statement has conflicting meaning. How do you define OBC? I think there is equal percentage of rich and poor in so called upper cast and OBC cast. I didn't say I wanted my father to be included in backward class. I was just pointing out flaw in our reservation system.

What else is expected of a muslim, they are just waiting for them to be added to the OBC list. I think India is the only country where ppl compete to be called backward. The Islamic rule and British rule made Indians loose thier self respect and now they believe that they are inferior and whatever is thiers or belongs to them is always inferior in thier view, including thier own brains. I see Desis in US being respected for our work ethics, hard work etcc, but back home its a sad story of reservation, religion etcc.

Division in the society has existed and will exist. The option we have is to stop dividing on the basis of caste. Economic division is somthing that cannot be stopped. Reservation is needed but based on the economic situation of people.
RK: It was good to read what you had written. But believe me, you are able to say it coz you did it on your own, and not due to some reservation. Ask your OBC friend, I don't think he would be proud of his reservation based degree.

Thanks R K for posting this,I came from same background and my brother and I faced the same situation,In XIIth ,we both succussed with high percentage but I was not able to get Government colleges or REC because of stiff compition in Open category, and My brother has to go for other Medical instead of MBBS and ours SC ,ST and OBC frnd from our respective classes got admission not only on less percentage but in high perofile colleges instead of having less marks. I asked question after graduation and PG,Should I continue my life in India in hands of corroupt politics and this so called cast system.I do not think I would allow this system to suffer my new generation and would respect this.

RK, your achievement is commendable. There are many such RK's in India who are affected by reservation. It's high time that the reserved classes stand up and say "We no more need reservations."

RK, each human is great, sometimes perception differs. It is okay if somebody got a reservation seat.
This reservation was used by british based on race and theoritical analysis to target certain group of people, who were obstruction to couple of european purposes.

I wish if supreme court ban using cast name any where. They should impose fine if any one uses cast for whatever reason. Next generation needs to be cast free.
Lets have tons of good quality government school with free food and accommodation for people living under Below Poverty Line..

There are lot many peoples like you in our society. But are you casting your vote regularly? Mostly people like us not going for voting.
That's why such politicians will dare to do such a wrong thing. They only want votes. And for that, they will do any thing.
If you want to throw away this congress government (arjun singh, sonia, ...), you have to caste your vote regularly and to a best person out of present candidates :).
Put your story on all such forums. So, backward caste people will also understand our problems. And they will support us.
We have to be united. And reservation should be only based on economic basis. And that is also limited to by mostly giving full Scholarships.
