Apart from jokes, she is atleast educated and knows close to 10 languages and also did a good job as CM during her previous regime. What does karunanidhi know except tamil? And what will do with tamil once you cross tamilnadu border?

If you cross the TN border, you can learn hindi or the local language. Similarly if others come TN they "should" learn tamil.

jayalalitha is educated ! She only finished schooling in church park convent !!! & started her filmi career in 'vennira adai'. So much for her education ! As for her doing a good job , the less said the better. When she lost all her MP seats she revoked all the Dragonian laws she passed just for a few more votes but still got the boot in the assembly elections. Now don't tell me she is literate because she holds a Doctrate degree too..courtesy Anna University, chennai! Her only achievement the RSS/VHP will never forget is ...well she threw one time good old friend Kamakodi Sri Sankarachariar of Kanchi in prison for murder & also accused him of peddling drugs !! A job well done ?

Well said gopi! Hindi is not needed for TN... Let the rest of the nation learn Tamil. I am sure it is going to gain importance with the IT & industries growing in the south. Let the job seekers learn a south Indian language.
I know hindi and I never used it in my work place or anywhere as not a hindi speaker cares to learn tamil. I always insist them to "come again in English".
Anyway leave that "pumpkin" alone, she is not a Tamil first of all!

Call her by any name, Jayalalitha ( I thought she was an Iyengar from Srirangam, Tamil Nadu whose family migrated to Mandya Karnataka) and a host of non-Tamils have done much better to champion the cause of Tamil, one of the world's oldest languages. This despite the state suffering from a 'chauvinist'tag!
I can state with a fair degree of affirmation that Tamils have been the best learners of any new system/ communication channel ( be it a spoken language or a software language)in the modern era of India and earlier.

The problem is that we have a collection of similar talents in all the four southern states of India and as long as we keep fighting who is better amongst we four, the cow-belt wallah with his condemned state of life will continue to dominate the Indian landscape.

The rise of software and IT in the southern part of the country has had a reverse exodus but still, call it the need of the hour or competitive spirit, the most frenetic race to occupy the top slot is happening in the south rather than at a pan-Indian level. So once again the job seeking North Indian professional succeeds!! So the Hindi colonoliasm survives intact!!

I know I am sounding clannish but if I am liberal if I learn Hindi and speak it as well as the Hindiwallah, I would prefer to be labelled clannish.

Come on Rediff readers, let us have a full-fledged battle if u wish

Mr.Younus Khan, Infact, I can use the worst ever words to start a flame here for the line you have written. I respect your freedom to speak and right to express your ideas, but as long as it doesnt hurt another induvidual or group!
I like to politely but strongly condemn your words.
