Reservations help no one and hurt many
by Anurag Shrivastava on Apr 23, 2007 05:36 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Companies hire from IITs and IIMs because they think that these institutes have very bright people. They will still go these institutes but will only hire from the non-reserved categories. The SC/ST students of IITs/IIMs have done much worse in their careers than upper caste students from B and C category institutes. Only a fool believes that reservations help. The only thing that helps is hard work and intelligence - not fake IIT/IIM degrees. Reservations only deprive intelligent students access to study with other bright people. Reservations also hurt lower castes - because even the brightest student from non-reserved category will get discriminated against - in college and at work. I have seen this happening blatantly and makes me very sad.

why people are not understanding the real cause... Your statements like so and so people havent done well and so and so people have done well.. are COMPLETELY without facts and figures. SC/ST people from IIT/IIMs have doen far better than other people from same colleges... Thats what IIT/IIM teaches you to "Excel in Life". ABout fake degrees... huh you dont know a life of IIT/IIM grad as the person who is passing and having a degree from these institutes cannot afford to have a fake degree.. If they dont have it, they will never get it.. who so ever it is..

So stop compalianing and be constructuive..." Rather than saying this is right or wrong, suggest an option.. Like suggest the mode of resevration shoudl be economic condition rather than casteism... It needs more efforts to suggest solution rather than pointing out problems without facts and figures
