Repeating what I posted before in this thread: You have to take into account what's called political correctness. Imagine there are no indians in US: US wouldn't even care to make ties with india, as there is nobody to prove in their own land who indians are. Remember a few years back most americans didn't even know where india lies in the world map, and now most people just envy the word 'indian'. You might argue that india can do it all on their own, but for economics 101: US is the biggest customer anyone can ask for as of today - if india doesn't do it in the service industry, china/russia/brazil will do it just like they did in the manufacturing. The professor is a symbol of our proud display of intelligence in their own land. In a layman's sense, your argument sounds like "who asked my neighborhood grocer to sell groceries to others - he and his family can cook and eat them all by themselves". Of course he can take groceries and money from his own store, but he has to sell more than he spends for himself to meet his other needs and to save for his future. Why can't you understand this simple fact of market economy.
