1. Indian government wants to retain the right to make nuclear weapons and at the same time wants USA to continue to supply nuclear fuel.
2. She wants to make friendship with Iran, the terrorist state, at the cost of a deal with the most powerful nation which will ensure the continuous power supply for the nation in future for its growth of economy.
This is the classing example of madness. Whoever in India thinking this, he/she must be a crazy person. India has to choose between reality and madness.
I don't understand what is the wrong in accepting demands of USA? You want something from someone, so you have to accept some conditions, isn't that fare? The question is, in this situation, who is in a better position to negotiate? If the deal is broken, nothing will happen to USA. But India will suffer in future because India does not have any nuclear fuel to burn for electricity in next several decades. India's coal reserve is depleting and also burning of coal is bad for the environment. India has to go for nuclear and for that she needs to import nuclear fuel. Can she make another such deal with another country? That does not look promising at this moment. India has a deal with the most powerful nation on the earth, she has a chance to be real close with the most powerful nation and she wants to destroy that chance at the cost of making friendship with Iran, the terrorist state and at the cost of making some unrealistic demand? !!!! Come on. I can%u2019t believe Indian politicians are that much fool.

It is not madness but it is called safeguarding your interests. The deal is about civilian nuclear cooperation not about nuclear weapons. The bill US congress passed makes it clear that India will not get any dual use technology. That should be the end of the story. India's problem is nuclear fuel rather than technology. US does not have the best nuclear technology anyway. Whatever it has, it will never part with it. India should keep it simple. If any nation helps India with a nuclear plant, they can have all the inspections there, but what is made by Indian scientists should never be open to any inspections. You do not want Indian nuclear scientists to start disappearing like what has happened to some of the Pakistani scientists. Western countries especially US will never allow India to come up, atleast there is no sign till now that they will.

Dear Sudip, Either it is a fictitious name, & you are not Indian. Or you do not have any geopolitical perception.
Why India will limit its nuclear arsenal development? Have we reached at the level of China? We would be fool to shut out China as no threat. Chinese ambassador sitting in India is claiming Indian Territory as Chinese. They have gobbled up Tibet and build train to Tibet (which has no meaning commercially), why?
Indian Govt. since beginning has stressed that this deal is purely for civilian stuff and will not stifle India%u2019s nuclear program. BUT NOW US IS CHANGING GOAL POST. IT is trying to get India commit to no test and enter into NPT /CTBT thru backdoor. RECOGNIZE INDIA as nuclear weapon state then India will enter from front door. Then India will have option to keep its nuclear arsenal and prevent bullies like china to force us.
I agree with your Iran perception, but again this will give India more bargaining power who knows. It could be a political move. India knows that friendship with US forces other countries to rethink. Chinese have started thinking about India. Pakistan is worried about being caught pants down with terrorism in Kashmir, so things are changing.
I understand that our ministers and ngotiators have a difficult bargaining in their hand, but they can not give India%u2019s right as nuclear power. INDIA WILL NEVER rollback it's nuclear program unless China does so. Regards GS, Virginia, USA

India needs Iran. Iran is India's gateway to Afganistan and Central Asia. Iran helps India encircle Pakistan from all sides. Iran is a dangerous country but so is pakistan yet it became the frontline ally for US.
NPT is a mafia run by 5 nuclear armed thugs :) along with NSS.

USA is not insisting on signing of NPT for giving nuclear technology to India. They have amended their law for this very purpose (for giving the technology to India without signing of NPT). So why do you raise this issue?
RE:THIS IS MADNESS !!

Do you want a simple solution? Let India sign NPT as a nuclear weapon state, let it be N6 from N5. If other nations can supply uranium to China, why can't they to India? After all India's record in non proliferation is better than China.

Any demand should not be a double standard in supplying uranium or urine to one country w/o any limits, they are considered as nuclear power, but for india to supply the same fuel, you need to sign this, that etc. why this double standard

Why not? What you are saying is an ideological standpoint. I don't think it has any practical value. Every deal in the international community is made to one-to-one basis. You don't have same conditions for each deal. You don't make same deal with every person when you sell you product or do you?

True Sudip. I'll add to this madness. The reason we are close to Iran is that some parties (read CPM, Lalu, Mullah Mulayam etc) believe that if we snub Iran we will antagonize the Indian Muslims and thus they will lose their vote bank. Super madness: The country will get surplus electricity, large parts of our country facing power cuts for half the day will be bright again, children will be able to study at night etc.But does this matter to the population that is supposed to benifit thus from this deal, or what matters is some far away state whose ruler threatens to blow up other countries on every opportunity. The answer is ambigous at best.
