Myths about Indian IT giants..
by JJ on Apr 14, 2007 03:33 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

True story...

Mr XXX moved to US on H1 visa. His employer a small Indian company sponsored him, The company pays XXX $50,000 flat salary. There are around 20 employees in his current company working for the same salary. His employer charges the customer anywhere from $75 to $80 as most of them are working in ERP packages. That's roughly 130k to 150k per anum. So this employer is keeping more than 60 percent of the income he earned through these people just because he sponsored their H1. So after couple of years Mr XXX who used to hate his employer to the core decided to start his own company. (People love to become the very person they hated once ,, dont they )... Now he dishes out the same unfair treatment to his fellow countrymen. Now his own company has more than 30 employees. The reason i stated the above story...

It's the story of 90% of all the Indian body shops in US and India. how it became possible for these firms...there are many fine lines in the morality of this business practice.
Does it require amazing brains to develop these firms?
Are they doing these fellow country men a service by this or they exploiting them?
Who decides how much percentage of the employee generated revenue they can pocket?
This IT body shop phenomenon which is the true portrait of Indian IT giants,, is it a natural Osmosis waiting to happen? Or is it intelligently carved by the so called Indian IT sages such as NRM and others..

TCS last year got sued by their US employee as they asked their employees to return their personal tax returns to the company. ( I am not joking they have been doing that for a while )..That%u2019s the most ridiculous thing I ever heard..

A day will come when the unethical practices of these Indian software giants will come into light. You will see the true nature of these so called innovative minds. No R&D, no software development of their own, manipulated representation of employee skills, substandard treatment of employees compared to other consulting firms.

Do i think these people are shrewd business men ...YES.. Are they immensely creative and deserve to give speeches about ethics and claim moral righteousness%u2019 NO...

I personally don%u2019t give a damn about whether he played a tune or sang song in his office. Patriotism is beyond these so called show offs and carrying flags. I bet most of these Indian IT firm employers who are exploiting these fellow country men Sing the national anthem proudly out of their patios and paint their houses tri colors. The sad part is that they never see India in the faces of those people who they are exploiting. But they are Patriots,, what the heck they sang the song so%u2026.. I just hope I wont become the same person I hated once%u2026%u2026.

hey buddy,
i agree with you, whatever u said is 100% true. but u know one thing, despite all this being true still many of us, including me will tend to go for such companies and get exploited by our own so called Indian companies, reason might be that many of us are helpless or don%u2019t have much options when it comes to our better money making career , almost all companies who are from India or operate in India do the similar kind of business and show huge profits which are made out of this kind of body shopping business which they term as Services, this is the IT story of our great India.

as far as the issue of national anthem is concerned, I am an Indian and I am proud to be born in this country and I do respect my national anthem, but i really don%u2019t understand why this guys think all this kind of issue when some one who has big name is involved and our media highlights and supported by this politicians, I really doubt when was the last time did our politicians sang our national anthem by there own, many of them might even not knowing to sing it fully. They just wait to get any such topics and then they start there game, I am very sure, all this guys will keep there mouth shut once they get some favors from mr.murthy. after all everything is for there own profits right, we have 101 other critical problems which are un attended, instead of trying to find a solution for them they are behind this kind of issues and take benefit out of it , Really I must say mera bharath mahaan..

regards
daya

Good write up.
Regarding a person getting exploited by employer and doing the same when he sets up the company is like ragging. When people are being ragged in colleges they hate the seniors and very next year they start ragging the juniors.
