Hussain is a common name in India because of the overwhelming presence of muslims here. . However, as you yourself noted, hindus have been decimated in pakistan. Thus, Vijay is not such a 'ubiquitous' name there as Hussain is here.

i think he was talking about the way it is pronounced... and i think he's right, because even americans (who, by the way, tend to pronounce it entirely wrong), actually spell is right the first time! funny, isn't it?
