BEING APROFESSIONAL TEACHER MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TELLS THAT LADY TEACHERS OFTEN LACK COMPASSIONATE APPROACH TO THE FAILLING STUDENTS - BE IT YHE K.G. STAGE OR IN THE P.G. LEVEL. THEY BECOME MORE RUDE WHEN SUCH FAILLING STUDENTS - BOYS OR GIRLS - ARE BEUTIFUL OR SMART.

i disagree completely. i'm not a teacher but a student but i can say from experience that in the U.S male and female teachers are both very helpful, understanding and ready to help a student as long as the student has genuine reasons and shows to some extent that he/she is not neglecting their studies. regarding beautiful and smart boys and girls being target of instructor's prejudice, that's the lamest excuse i have heard. i don't think this nikhil is either smart or goodlooking and he stabbed a teacher who he said is his fave. teacher. wonder what he will do then to teachers he doesn't like.
about the smart part, let me say that a student who lets himself Fs in all the three exams before the final, and doesn't even try to make up for those grades for doing better in subsequent exams is not worth helping. students can only help themselves in their grades, the teachers can only instruct. how in the world is a teacher going to give a good grade to a student who doesn't study for any of the three exams and who comes in the last minute to talk about his failing grade? at least prof. hooker (the one he stabbed) was nice enough to even agree to go to dunkin' donuts with him to discuss it. that's when he went knocking at her door. for those who don't know the whole story, he followed her home from school, waited for her to be alone at her home and rang the bell. she then suggested going to dunkin' donut to discuss it and closed the door and went to change her clothes. he then rang the bell again and when she opened it, he dragged her out and stabbed her. she would have been dead if the knife handle hadn't broken during the stabbing.
in india, a prof. won't even think of discussing failing grades with a student. they will just give a fail grade and there are no ways one can talk about it to their teacher. so what are people here complaining about? just because it's an indian who did the stabbing doesn't mean indians should make up excuses for the wrong-doer by saying teachers are biased, U.S is racist etc. people should learn to give blame where it belongs, and not try to shift blame or make up excuses just because the wrong-doer happens to belong to one's same place or community.
i'm surprised that most people here have shown no concern for the prof. he stabbed and that their sympathies are with a criminal who they say have 'personal problems' and that people should be more sympathetic to him.
who doesn't have personal problems in this world? if an american comes to india and stabs his host or tourist guide, will you say we should undersatnd him and that he might be having personal problems? i'm sure a mob would have lynched him. at least being in U.S nikhil is sitting in a jail cell and has a lawyer and is not starving. if an american had done the same in india, he would have been dead too by now.
