''KALAM'' must continue .
by ranjan on Apr 11, 2007 09:20 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dear INDIANs

News Reorts suggest that during PRESIDENT Visit , INFOSYS did not sing National Anthem while they play a tune / instrumental .

When asked about this to Mr Narayan Murthy , he replied due to thier FOREIGNER CLIENTs he did not sing National ANTHEM .

A person for whom CLIENTs are more Important than NATIONAL ANTHEM must not be a PRESEIDENT even an INDIAN CITIZEN .

Its SHAME on YOU Mr Dollar Narayan Murthy .

it vas not about clients but about employees. it might not be paassibal for ranjans to undarstand the consept of global citizenship. NRN is a self made leeder and not a dumb falloyar of pasvans and mayavatis.

National Anthem might be a symbol and Murthy might be a self made man. But his comments (if true) cannot be defended. If you go to some other country and attend universities/ jobs are they going to stop singing their anthem so as not to offend your sensiblities.
And what's there to be offended? Coming to symbols, lot of symbols aren't well understood by 99% of people. That doesn't obliviate the need of symbols.
It's quite possible that NRN doesn't know anything about why instrumental is chosen over vocal version. But defending every action of yours and offerinf stupid explanations land you in soup.
Coming to his presidency, there are more self made , more successfull, more ethical people in India. We need proof that NRN did enough outside his daily work to deserve candidature. And PLEASE, don't start lecturing on his philanthropy, I can name atleast 10 better philanthropists.
He keeps complaining about bad infrastructure while being in a position to change atleast a bit of that. Whiners don't go much distance.
I personally dislike his(or company's) land grabbing everywhere. Why do you need 100s of acres everywhere, that too alloted by govt. Can't you buy land for yourself? And what are you manufacturing? Jumbojets? ICICI is constructing a 40 storeyed building on a ~20 acre campus in Hyderabad to house few thousands of its employees. And Infosys needs 500 acres to employ 3000. Figures quoted are approximate , but don't deviate from actuals by much.
When you are a billionaire and still begging/ demanding something from govt (in name of shareholders) obviously you are not fit for a public position.
Every 10 days you see that Holy NRN had pontificated on some issue or another. This looks like a well organised publicity campaign by Infosys.
Disclaimer: I have nothing personal againest NRN nor am I jealous of his wealth/ position. ;) It's just that I am tired of inconsistencies in too many stories about him/ by him.

hi,
I agree that Kalam should continue as president....He might not have done much as president....He has not taken a stand yet on contentious issues like reservations in academics and the private sector....but at least he is educated which is more than what can be said about some of out other leaders....
Now about the national anthem....have always wondered what it is about the national anthem and national song and national flag and stuff like that which is so inviolable....do they unite the people to do something good for their neighbours?...no they dont....singing the national anthem doesnot stop you from spitting on the streets....patriotism is not meant to be shown to the soil....it is for the people around you....to say that you respect the national flag and dont really care about the poor in the country seems to me really funny....
Maybe in the pre independence days those symbols meant something to the general people....they were a method of national integration....but that is because those people were a better lot than us....they really cared about the person next to them....today we have nothing....and sticking to "respect" to those symbols without understanding what they stand for is worse than showing no respect at all....it is hypocrisy with a capital "H"
