Shia cleric on Vande Mataram
by Rajeev Shekhar on Sep 07, 2006 01:22 PM   Permalink

Dear Sirs,

I thank Rediff.com to explore the basis of the controversy over singing of the Vande Mataram in praise of Mother India.

This article has clearly brought out that "Vande" means salutation to the Mother - as envisaged by the author - Bankim Chandra Chaterjee. Thus no Indian - Hindu / Muslim / Sikh / Christian / etc would disagree to singing of "Vande Mataram".

The whole unseeming controversy seems just because the BJP has raked up this matter(as Maulana Kalbe Sadiq says). This is most unfortunate for us Indians.

Thanks to people like the Maulana, we may still have some great leaders who may influence their temperamental followers to rise one as PROUD INDIANS.

Thanks
Rajeev Shekhar
