Chinese involvement!
by K. S. Mayya on Oct 13, 2006 02:00 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

During my recent conversation with a Chinese I said that many in India believe that India should have intervened in Tibet, for which the reply fumingly was: there would have been a definite war. He has a reason for such statement: Chinese have militarily intervened all around their territory when it came to their national interests. Surprisingly, we Indians have been acting in a manner throughout our post-independence history, that can be best be described as "cowardice". Mr. Rajeev although puts the blame at China's doors, there is no conclusive evidence for the same. How come anybody and everybody (US included) in this region are not pointing this and only Mr.Srinivasan gets this information from somewhere based on which he has built the whole story. While it is well known that North Korean nuclear technology was first overtly transferred by Russia during the cold war and many North Koreans are educated and continue to be educated in Russia. The rationale behind the transfer ofcourse was since US spoke its mind on using nuclear weapons to conclude the Korean war. North Koreans might have only improved upon it. And there is this element of doubt about the test itself.

It is a well known fact that North Korea supplied the missiles (No Dong I believe) to carry the warheads, to Pakistan. In return the pakistanis supplied some vital instruments and also nuclear know-how to the koreans. It is very well known that throughout the 80's the Chinese supplied the know-how and also some hardware to the Pakistanis (uncle Sam could not do anything as he was busy in Afghanistan to drive out the Soviets, with the help of the Pakistanis).
I think Rajeev Sreenivasan's theory (!!) is quite valid and consistent with with current history/reality. Thanks Rediff for this article.

Since going through the article, I have had some detailed discussions after sharing this article with some Koreans. They appear to agree in totality with Mr. Sreenivasan and they believe the reason why Korean media does not discuss (definte Chinese clandestine involvment) this is, they are afraid of Chinese getting agitated about it and having a direct effect on their exports and business interests in China. For example, when Korean health ministry raised doubt on the cleanliness (chinese use human waste as manure) Kimichi imported from China, China illogically reciprocated. Regardles, Pakistan provided uranium based technology to north korea. However, it is clear that North Korea's mature technology is based on plotonium.
