Chinese intentions
by A V Koshy on Nov 17, 2006 05:55 PM   Permalink

I have never met a chinese. But these last few years, I have been able to read up a lot of information on two aspects of Chinese life. The young chinese who have not been doctored by the ideology that governs the political class is as bindaas as the youths of this country, for that matter any country.

However, politically, the chinese have time and again proved to be totally Machiavellian in their intent. How the indian leadership is unable to see this, beats the heck out of me.

You can only be friends with your equal. Under what parameters are India and china equal? The Tibetan aggression, their posturing in Taiwan, the Aksai Chin sector, their claim for Arunachal Pradesh all point to a belligerence that simply cannot be wished away.

As columnists in this portal have only too glaringly pointed out, shaking the hands with the dragon is a sure fire way to doom. It is high time that the Indian leadership woke up from its hypnotized somnambulance and tackled the issues that need urgent redressal.

Regs...
