In addition to the existing punishments, the following should be effective deterrants.
1) The license of the erring driver must be revoked permanently. The driver should be permanently barred from driving in india or overseas.
2) Have the vehicle confiscated, auctioned and the proceeds should be given to the aggrieved and their families.
