Yes, the US-India nuclear deal has definitely gone cold, stale, sore and if you like it, quite dead with no mourners in the US establishment, to be honest. No point crying over it. It was never destined to see the light of the day. It is good that it has gone the way it has! In the long run it is better for India to take the tough and uphill route to energy through Fast Breeder Reactor. At least we will reach there in 10-15 years independently with no back up from any foriegn source. What Manmohan and his so called experts want is to source nuclear fuel for the conventional reactors easily without sweating it out and in return subject our nuclear programme to inspection, surveillance and the much touted technological support. They don't want our scientists and engineers to remain independent and develop the revolutionary FBR technology with no strings attached. In this the political establishment has everything to gain as most of our politicians have their cosy nests and sanctuaries abroad in the West! They even have one foot ever planted abroad in the form of some of their kith and kin having become naturalised citizens over there!!
