I do not agree that we should intervene. In fact, we should distance ourselves from the on-going problems in Sri Lanka, and concentrate to secure our border down south to prevent illegal immigration & sort our own terrorist problems, than play a regional big brother.
I am not saying this without analysing the situation. Having lived abroad, I have come in contact with plenty of Sinhalese and Sri Lankan Tamils (& Bangladeshis too). Most of you would be surprised to know that India is hated by all these three ungrateful class of people. The Sinhalese hold us responsible for LTTE fiasco, despite the fact that it was formed in early 70's, without our intervention. The Srilankan Tamils hate us because of IPKF fiasco and Bangaldeshis.... well, they are just ungrateful wretches.
I don't see why we should endanger the lives of our soldiers for their cause. We can only provide humanitarian aid. If some of you are not aware, then let me tell you one more story. In the aftermath of tsunami, Sri Lankan army did not allow aid to reach thier own Tamilian people and all was distributed amongst Sinhalese.
We did not intervene in Nepal and we must implement the same here.
