Evaluating TN's quota system
by nagesh on May 31, 2006 05:08 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

During British days , one particular community was favoured for sensitive posts , because they appeared to be honest, uncorruptible. And then the reservation came- As Shakespere says in one of his plays- Greatness was thrust upon certain- the sudden found position without knowing the integrity rerquired -corruption became rampant. Politicians with all favours found a ready partners and TN became so corrupt that everybody who tasted money, forward or backward community became irresistable and spoiled- Is the lesson of reservation -Only Time will tell!

As u said, British favored a few for some so called sensitive jobs and the present state of the country could be attributed to that. How can u blatantly say that upper castes are incorruptible and lower ones are corrupt? U represent the typical feudal mindset of medieval age. Greatness was never thrust on anyone. Anyone can become great by virtue of hardwork and reservation was just a step to correct the historical injustice done to some castes. If u say TN is "so corrupt" what do you say about other states where higher positions are grabbed by the so called higher echelons of societiy, but the states remain misgoverned. If governance is taken as the criteria, then TN is one of the best governed states in the country. As u said only time will tell the progress...
