With due respect I submit that the acheivement though laudable on paper, is nothing extraordinary considering the selection process of the intake of students and Iam reasonably sure that quite a few students would be detained in 11th std. just to make sure that a 100% pass is guaranteed. In such schools the selection criteria is also based on the educational background of the parents and the family background. Most parents could afford private tuitions etc. Let the same management take over a government school in a rural area take fifty students from a village background and make them pass, then I salute it. Venkatesh.

Venkatesh,
If someone tells you to do something in Zimbabwe or Timbuktoo, will you go there? The school is in Chennai. If you want your village to have such school, please take initiative and admit students based on merit.
The substance of this article is that Merit alone is good for the country. PLEASE TAKE A NOTE OF THAT. Thank you.

Hi Venkatesh,
It was mentioned in ur msg that DAV selects a student based on the educational background of that student's parents, notwithstanding his family background. I dont understand where you came up with such a baseless statement. I am an alumnus of DAV & want to let you know that both my parents didn't even go to college. Well, I was not shown the door at DAV, for this! In fact, I had many friends at DAV who came from humble bacgrounds, did very well & placed themselves in prestigious institutions. Personally, I had my best experiences at DAV, be it learning or otherwise. More than studies, they teach us to respect others and lead a life based on ethics. Practices like yoga, 'havan' & daily prayers always kept us on the right stead & disciplined us for life. I am assuming you did all this research in order to compare DAV with other schools, including your own. And I totally agree with Mukund, you can't blame IIT for taking only the cream, can you?! Please understand that DAV is the most sought after school for no mean reason. They dont have to take in students from a rural area & make them pass to prove themselves.

Hi venkatesh,
Your argument is analogous to saying--- IITs and BITS are not really good. They are so only because of their stringent selection process.--- These go hand in hand. The school and its teachers produce good results, hence the students compete hard to get admitted in to this school. And hence there is a selection process. Its inevitable. And, maximum preferrence is given to those students who opt to continue in the school after the Xth. Only the remaining seats are filled by a stringent selection process to accomodate students applying from other schools
