Id like to make it clear that though DAV boasts of itself as being the top school of India,it takes only the best students through an entrance tests.
Whats the use of taking only good students.I challenge them to take average students and make them intelligent.Their entrance tests are a flawed one as they give extra 5%marks to their own students and do prejudice. So think before rating this as the best school of India.

Hi krithika,

Going by your argument, no institute, whether IIT or BITS or Stanford, should be given credit!!! One can always say that everything depends entirely on the student only. Discounting the good performances in the JEE and other entrance exams for your sake, the performance of the students in the CBSE exam itself has been outstanding.

I studied at this school right from my upper KG. Also if it were not for your chem teacher who didnt like you or the math teacher who was rude to the "not so good" students, you might have scored only half of what you did.

Undoubtedly the school and the teachers do play a great role, directly or indirectly, in the success story of the students.

If you still dont look up to any of your teacher, it is very unfortunate.

IS IT REALLY A SUCCESS STORY
by krithika on May 27, 2006 03:55 PM   Permalink
To think that this school creates the best student is wrong. God help you if you are average or worse, decided not to run the rat race of PM/PD or JEEs or million other competitive exams.
Can an institution take credit for the good performance of students in PM/PD JEE preparatory classes? What I want to know is how many students did not go for these classes and have performed well?
Having studied in DAV for 7 years and having chosen not to take any of the million classes, I had to fend for myself. My physics teacher could not explain any concept and would rather have us repeat it a million time till we learnt it by-heart. The chemistry teacher did not like me, for whatever reason and was mean at every opportunity; don't even ask me about how rude the Maths teacher got with those of us ``not bright enough'' for her. Today, there are only a handful of teachers I look up to with respect.
Years later, a psychiatrist told me that nearly half his clientele is from DAV. Kudos, indeed!
