I think that for us to forgive the LTTE, presumably for Rajiv Gandhi's assasination, they will first have to publicly ackhowledge their guilt in the heinous act, then to agree not to commit any crimes on Indian soil, and finally to agree to negotiate peacefully in Sri Lanka. The last condition, the renouncing of violence by the LTTE should be an absolute must. We should not forget that the Indian Army trained the rebels. Whatever, the reasons were, they seem to be inexcusable at this time. Perhaps the Indian Government should make an admission that they were wrong in encouraging the LTTE back then. For a peace loving nation, that India professes to be, any tendency to resort to violence should be condemned. One can not forget that the Late Indira Gandhi encouraged Sant Bhindranwale in order to undercut the Native Opposition parties. The Sant was her downfall. Likewise Rajiv Gandhi encouraged the LTTE. God knows why. They were his downfall too. Thank heavens the subsequent Prime Ministers have not seen fit to interfere in the Internal Affairs of Fiji, or anywhere else that Indians are settled in large numbers.
