First of all, I don't care who dies because all death is bad, whether its rajiv, indian soldier or civilians in lanka. I believe in humanity, i would rather have 1 soldier die than 2 tamil civilians die.
2ndly, tamils in SL are the only natural allies we have. They are brothers to our South Indians. I always thought of South Indians as very different. A lot of us in North India look down on South Indians/Madrassis. Tamil Nadu and Northern SL are mroe of a natural country with a shared history than Delhi (my state) and Tamil Nadu and hence, that part of SL should have joined the union. It is because of the British that Ealem is not part of India.
3dly, Rajiv was stupid enough to say that when he comes into power, he will show them a lesson. Prabakaran knew he had to act quickly and he did.
4thly, strategically they are superior to us in warfare. We can say all we want about our nuclear bombs, the fact remains they kicked our ass despite IPKF being larger than LTTE.
Finally, Indian soldiers use rape as form of weapon and unlike LTTE, we are yet to apologize for our mistakes to the Tamil people. From us in North India to Tamils of Lanka, we are sorry for all the rape
