It was a wonderful case study of what can be done if there is a will to do it. I am completely against "reservation in higher institutes of learning based on caste". Assuming that genetics donot play a major role, learning capability is already defined by the time he reaches Standard XII - by the quality of education he has received till that point. So, once you are past that stage, there is no point in any having any reservation. I too have done my graduation from IIT. I have a batchmate who is a SC and got selected only because of that. He is doing very good now - not because of his caste but because he was always a very hard worker, very committed and had sound basic education (not to be equated with high marks in exams). I myself donot have any idea what my caste is. Never bothered about it. Reservation, if any, should come only at the grassroots level, based on ecomomic capability of the child's family, so that a level playing field is created. The right support mechanism should come at the right time to the right people. No point in providing a crutch today to someone who has lost his hands yesterday and his legs day before yesterday.

Hi Jim, Because they are intellingent and not dumb like you... It is ridiculus to say 98% of top posts are occupied by Brahmins... on what basis are you saying that ? Even the mughals oppressed Hindus and then British (christians) opressed Hindus... what about that ?
