I have serious doubt about the claims of caste free mind in IITs. Just a few years back in one of the IIT, the professors asked students to stay away from a professor because he was SC. I doubt if the professor knows what engineering is about. IITs are not great because of the JEE scores. IITs are great because the tremendous amount of the taxpayers money is spent on these institutes. What makes an engineer is the training and the exposure to the technology. IITs are just churning out theory masters but seldom engineers. So the reservation might just work producing better engineers as people of different background and not bound by the current lingo (which has not contributed much) of IITs will participate. I doubt if the professor knows anything beyound the theory of whatever faculty he is teaching in. And I doubt if he has ability to guide a student at different levels. And may be he is scared that the abilities of so called good teachers at IITs will expose if they face a wide range of merit.

Hey man! Sid! You don't make any sense at all! Your diatribes about putting down IITs do not hold water. Mind you! I did not go to IIT; so don't think I am arguing in their favor. Perhaps you have an axe to grind; maybe you were refused admission there!! (Take it easy! I am just joking!). Nevertheless, I do agree with you that these Engineering colleges do not teach student the practical applications; instead they are stuck to theory only.

Had you ever been anywhere near the IITs or competed in Engineering with a meritorious IITian (back-door entrants do not stand for the spirit of any institution, leave alone the IITs), then you would not speak like this you LOSER. Remember the fox and the grapes story...............Well, let me tell you that real quick incase you never heard that. Once a fox was very hungry and thirsty and was roaming in the jungle in search of something to eat, when he came upon a bunch of grapes hanging from the vines. He jumped and jumped and try to reach the grapes, but could not do so, so he walked away saying "The Grapes are sour, I don't wanna eat sour grapes"
